Favorite ‘Star Wars’ talks about surprise return for ‘Obi-Van Kenobi’

Kui-Gon Jinn returned.

Star Wars Fans were terrified Wednesday when Liam Neeson returned to the galaxy far, far away in the series finale Obi-Wan Kenobi at Disney +.

In the final moments Star Wars miniseries, Neeson returned to the franchise for the first time since Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace (1999) as a knight Jedi Qui-Gon Jin in live action; he also expressed the voice of the character in Star Wars: Clone Wars). Ever since the premiere episode, it has been teased that Qui-Gon could show up, but there has never been a guarantee. And given how much time has passed since Neeson last played the character, it was difficult to determine his interest in wearing his Jedi uniform once again.

Says an Oscar-nominated actor The Hollywood Reporter that he decided to return to the franchise for several reasons.

“I certainly didn’t want anyone else to play Qui-Gon Jin, and I wanted to show my respect for George [Lucas] and the mythical world he created, “said Neeson THR. “Plus, Evan [McGregor] is a friend, and I loved working with him throughout Phantom threat 25 years ago. ”

In the 1999 film, Qui-Gon was Obi-Wan’s master, and through a series of events, a pair of Jedi found Anakin Skywalker (Jake Lloyd) on Tatooine. Shortly after helping secure Anakin’s freedom, Qui-Gon was killed during a light sword duel with Darth Maul (Ray Park).

Neeson has noticed in recent years that he has always been a fan of the film and has extinguished the initial criticism, which has since subsided, and a generation of fans have been very fond of it. Phantom threat, Attack of the clones i Revenge of the Sieve.

As for Neeson’s return to the franchise, fans have been waiting with bated breath since Ioda (Frank Oz) told Obi-Wan in Revenge of the Sieve that she would teach him how to connect with the spirit of the Power of his late master. On Wednesday, that planted seed finally blossomed.
