Blizzard explains how the loot boxes and currency will be transferred to Overwatch 2 – IGN

As Overwatch 2 approaches (at least PvP) there are some long-standing questions about how the transfer from the first Overwatch to the sequel will take place, including how the loot boxes will be transferred. Rest assured, for anyone who is still piling up their loot boxes, that content will be transferred to Overwatch 2.

At RedditAMA, someone asked if the loot boxes would be transferred to Overwatch 2. However, it should be noted that Blizzard is completely abolishing the loot boxes to continue. However, for anyone who still keeps their loot boxes, they will open automatically and their contents will be transferred to your account below.

“We will share a more detailed explanation of all these topics before Overwatch 2 is released in October. To give you a quick answer now, those existing currencies (credits, OVL tokens and competitive points) will come with you to Overwatch 2, ”writes Overwatch’s leading commercial player Jon Spector.

Spector added that all unopened loot boxes will be opened automatically and their contents will be automatically entered into the player’s account.

Automatic transmission makes sense since loot boxes will simply cease to exist in the game. And since Overwatch 2 will be free to play, it seems that everyone who plays Overwatch 1 will automatically be transferred to the sequel with intact accounts.

Overwatch 2 – Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase 2022

When Overwatch 2 is released on October 4, 2022, as a free game, it will discard the loot boxes of the first game in favor of the combat pass system. The combat pass will allow players to unlock cosmetics, which can also be purchased at the in-game store.

Blizzard also shared a roadmap that includes when additional heroes and new combat passes will be available.
