Dana White proposes to Nate Diaz to fight Jake Paul in the midst of the latest conflict in the UFC

Sit back and get ready to hear the shocking news: Nate Diaz is not happy with the UFC.

OK, maybe that’s not shocking. Maybe the status quo has been there for months, if not years, and Diaz is once again advocating for the UFC to either give him the fight he wants or allow him to find that fight on his own.

Diaz began his latest public dispute with a promotion Monday when he tweeted a public demand to either be given a fight in July or August or be released from his contract. He especially attached a video in which Jake Paul knocks out the former UFC light heavyweight champion Tyrone Woodley, probably the subject of his “s *** a”.

Diaz is currently left with another contract fight, according to ESPN, and he turned down an offer to face rising star Khamzat Chimaev, instead expressing interest in one of Dustin Poari, Vicente Luke and Tony Ferguson. He lost his last fight to Leon Edwards by a unanimous decision at UFC 263 earlier this month.

A day later, UFC President Dana White discussed Diaz’s latest request in an interview with The Mac Life and was not very praised for Diaz’s merits as a fighter at this point in his career. He even suggested to Diaz that he go and book a fight with Jake Paul:

“You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to look at it and see a lot of games and anything. According to the contract, we have to provide him with a fight, we will give him a fight.

“I like Nate. Let’s be honest, Nate has won one fight in the last five or six years. When these guys come to these positions, you have guys who have been with us for a long time, whom we respect, they care about [Donald] Serones and Anthony Pettis before he left, and you have Nate Diaz and Nick Diaz is still under contract.

“You want to be fair and do the right thing, whatever. Nate Diaz will not come in and fight Kamaru Usman. We try to give the best we can, trying not to fuck anyone and respect anyone, but it’s not like we’re talking about Kamaru Usman. We’re talking about Nate Diaz. Nate won one fight in five years. We’re trying to work this out with him. He should probably go and fight Jake Paul. It’s a fight that makes sense. “

White is right that Diaz has won one fight – Anthony Pettis at UFC 241 2019 – since his career victory over Conor McGregor in 2016.

Diaz apparently listened to White as he tweeted a request for the UFC to send a statement a few hours later. Then he included two emojis: a blond man who can, but doesn’t have to look like Paul, and a boxing glove.

It may be worth noting that Paul recently announced that his next fight will take place on August 6, but without a confirmed opponent. There has been a lot of speculation about who will enter the ring with Paul, and Diaz, as an aging MMA fighter, would respond to recent influencer trends.

Paul even tweeted his statement to White, saying that he would be happy to face Diaz in the Octagon and would even fight for free, as long as White increases the salaries of fighters and their health care (White will not do that).

Obviously there are a lot of moving parts for this. All parties seem to agree that Diaz wants and should fight, either against Paul or within the UFC’s borders, but that’s a little more complicated than that.
